THE 27-year-old thinks the pair could top this year’s X Factor winner with their effort.
Leona wants the Xmas number one Leona wants the Xmas number one

LEONA Lewis wants to spoil the fun for this year’s X Factor winner – by beating them to the Christmas No1 spot doing a duet with Emeli Sande.

The 27-year-old shot to fame on the ITV talent show in 2006, when she had the festive No1 with A Moment Like This.

Now she wants to repeat the chart-topping feat with Scots singer Emeli.

Leona, the most successful X Factor contestant with 20million album sales, has already teamed up with Emeli on her new single, Trouble.

The pair co-wrote the song, although Emeli – who tied the knot with Adam Radojevic in Montenegro on Saturday – doesn’t sing on it.

But Leona has now set her sights on a duet that could compete with the debut single by whoever wins this year’s X Factor.

The TV show’s winner’s first single traditionally vies for the Christmas No1 spot.

Leona said: “I’d love to duet with Emeli. Oh my God, that would be so cool.”

And she even reckons X Factor boss Simon Cowell would approve of the idea.

Emeli Sande kicked off the closing concert Leona thinks Simon Cowel would like to see her link up with Emeli

Leona said: “It’s such a good idea. Simon would love it if we did a Christmas single together. He likes
competition. It gets his blood going.”

Leona and Emeli have been friends since teaming up to write songs for Leona’s third album, Glassheart, which is released next month.

The pair also collaborated with Naughty Boy, who has worked with Emeli throughout her career, and Fraser T Smith, the producer behind albums by Adele and Florence and the Machine.

Leona said: “I became friends with Emeli after Tinie Tempah got in touch with me. Tinie sent me her song Trouble.

“It was in a raw demo form. I got together with Emeli and said I really liked her idea. We collaborated a bit more and got the song to the stage it is at now.”

Leona, who broke up with her childhood sweetheart Lou Al-Chamaa after finding fame, says the sentiment behind the song Trouble really hit home.

She said: “There are a lot of songs about break-ups or about being in love. This song is real. It is something a lot of people go through. You are in a relationship and just can’t leave.”

Having recently turned up as a guest judge on The X Factor, she says Brits winner Emeli would have won the competition hands down had she ever decided to enter.

Leona said: “Emeli would have done great on X Factor. No matter what, that kind of talent will always shine through.”

Hey Guys! Finally Amazon.co.uk revealed the tracklist of the 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of Leona’s new album “Glassheart”. So the new content that this edition will have is a second CD with a new track called “Sugar” (that we heard off before in a interview Leona did for the Guardian UK last year), and possibly (since it’s not in the amazon description) the acoustic versions (video or audio?) of “Trouble”, “Come Alive”, “Glassheart” and “Colorblind”. Also they put on “Collide” there as a part of this second CD. The first Disc will include the same tracklist Leona revealed a few days ago, but the interesting part here is that “Fireflies” and “I To You” have something next to them on the listing, maybe some collaborations? well, we need to find more info about this since Amazon.co.uk has been the only site that published this list. Simon Cowell has branded Leona Lewis the savior of X Factor.

Speaking via a video message at Sony Music’s company day on Tuesday, Cowell gave special thanks to Nick Gatfield, Edgar Berger and Syco Music’s Sonny Takhar but reserved high praise for Syco singer Leona Lewis.

The talent show boss suggested that Lewis marked the fulfillment of his X Factor aim saying: “When we created X Factor, it was more than a television show. The idea behind it was to discover real stars.

“When I think of our biggest success on X Factor, initially, one person changed the perception of the show worldwide and her name is Leona Lewis,” he added. “You literally saved our show.”

Cowell then introduced Lewis who sang live at the event performing two songs from her upcoming album Glassheart.

Simon Cowell’s message to his Sony Music colleagues can be found in full below:

“I’ve got so many thank yous. Let me start with Nick [Gatfield] who’s been with us for about a year now. Nick, I just want to say you’ve made a massive difference and I want to thank you for everything you’ve done; your support, your guidance, your enthusiasm. It really has been a breathe of fresh air and we’ve really felt the difference.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Edgar [Berger]. The job you’ve done for our artists internationally has been nothing short of a miracle. It’s made a massive difference to the perception of Syco, of our artists and really is an incredible job. You started running when you started this job, it wasn’t a slow pace. It’s been incredible and we’re all incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done.

“I also have to say a begrudging thank you to Sonny Takhar. Sonny what you’ve done with your team – I think there’s 10 people that work for Syco Music – and seeing the impact of our artists all over the world this year, again, is nothing short of a miracle. The quality of the artists, the care that you’ve put into them, the team that you’ve assembled, the A&R expertise; it’s everything I could have dreamed of, so I’m incredibly grateful to you. It pains me to say this, bearing in mind that, as I do, you are two feet away from me smiling like a Cheshire cat.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to the artists. It’s been a true partnership. It’s exactly what I’ve always wanted from this label and I’m very proud of you.

“Finally, when we created X Factor, it was more than a television show, the idea behind it was to discover real stars. When I think of our biggest success on X Factor initially, one person changed the perception of the show worldwide and her name is Leona Lewis.

“You literally saved our show. I dreamt of finding a superstar. I’ll never forget Leona’s first audition, I’ll never forget the call from Clive Davies when you were on the live shows and you have transformed into a global superstar. It’s been two years since we heard a Leona record, I think this new album is sensational, you’ve never sounded better.”
